Method
- Warm the water in the mixing bowl: 1 min / 37°C / speed 1.
- Add the yeast, bread flour, sugar, salt and olive oil. First mix 15 sec / speed 6, then knead for 3 min on dough mode, without the measuring cup, to keep the dough nice and airy.
- Turn the dough out onto a counter dusted with a thin layer of flour. Dough still sticking to the blade? Give it 2 short bursts on Turbo / 0.5 sec.
- Shape the dough into a round farmhouse loaf. Cut a cross into the top 2 to 3 times, dust with some flour and place the loaf on a baking tray with baking paper.
- Place the tray in a cold oven, set it to 220°C and bake the bread for 40 minutes. Let it cool a little before slicing.
Liesbeth’s tips
- Check the dough after kneading: if it crumbles, add 20 to 50 g extra water; if it is too sticky, sprinkle in 1 tablespoon of flour. Knead for 1 more minute and it will be fine.
- You can also bake the bread in an oiled baking dish with a lid, for example Pyrex.
